OVER DE SINGLE:
'De Tweede Viool', uitgebracht op 15 maart 2024, is
de enige single van Achter De Schermen. Het
nummer is afkomstig van de gelijknamige
Oudejaarsconference 2011 van Youp van ’t Hek,
opgenomen in de Groningse Stadsschouwburg. Met
speciale gast de violiste Emmy Verhey, en de vaste
Youp-kompanen: Ton Scherpenzeel, Rens van der
Zalm (mandoline), Ton Snijders (accordeon) en
Christan Grotenbreg (synth).

OVER HET ALBUM:
‘Achter De Schermen’ bevat een een uitgebreide
instrumentale selectie uit de muziek voor de 26
theaterprogramma’s van Youp die Ton van muziek
voorzag. In een aantal gevallen kon Ton gebruik
maken van de originele opnames, andere stukken
zijn opnieuw in de studio opgenomen. Met Ton
Scherpenzeel, Rens van der Zalm en Ton Snijders en
speciale gastoptredens overstijgt dit project
culturen, genres en taalgrenzen. In tegenstelling tot
Ton’s vorige album ‘Virgin Grounds’, belicht dit
project vooral akoestische instrumenten.


ABOUT THE SINGLE:
'De Tweede Viool', released on March 15, 2024, is
the only single from Achter De Schermen ('Behind The Scenes'). The song comes from the 2011 New Year's Eve conference of
the same name by Youp van 't Hek, recorded in the
Groningen Stadsschouwburg. With special guest, the
violinist Emmy Verhey, and the regular Youp
companions: Ton Scherpenzeel, Rens van der Zalm
(mandolin), Ton Snijders (accordion) and Christan
Grotenbreg (synth)

ABOUT THE ALBUM:
Achter De Schermen is a special project consisting
of a curated selection of instrumental theater music,
created by Ton Scherpenzeel between 1984 and 2023
for the live performances of the Dutch entertainer,
Youp van 't Hek. Showcasing the best of instrumental
theater music, this collection features original live
recordings alongside carefully rerecorded and
rearranged studio versions. With Ton Scherpenzeel,
Ton Snijders, Rens van der Zalm and special guest
appearances, the project transcends genres, cultures
and language boundaries. In contrast to Ton's
previous solo album, Virgin Grounds, this project
mainly highlights 'real' acoustic instruments.
